| Water Quality |
 Sustaining and
improving the quality of our water will be an ongoing endeavour for
Council, Lake Associations, and the public at large.
As Mayor I would like to institute ongoing septic inspections. With individual systems remaining on-stream for checking throughout the life of the system, and inspections linked to property roll numbers, new owners will have up-to-date information available at the time of a property transfer. Since Walkerton, source water protection has a greater focus. "Ground water is the only source of water for about 90% of Ontario rural population". Lake Plans and water testing done by many Lake Associations will contribute to the quality of our water. Council will continue to include completed lake plans in our Official Plan as sub-sections. This will ensure that lake communities will have personalized attributes and concerns particular to their area recognized. I am in support of working forward with the Muskoka Watershed Council. Such initiatives will help ensure our water quality in to the future. |
