My Background

Lake of Bays
I grew up in North York, and visited our cottage in Lake of Bays with my family for over 35 years.  I know and care about the communities, lakes and people of this area.

I attended Ryerson College in Toronto, then worked as the Supervisor of Administrative Services for the Family Division of the Ontario Provincial Court, and later held the position of Assistant Director of West Metro Senior Citizens' Service in Toronto.

Twenty six years ago, my husband and I relocated to Lake of Bays to raise our 2 children.  We started a small, yet successful business in the Baysville area, called Peake's Plants and Produce.  The children grew up and went to school in Bracebridge and Huntsville.

I decided to enter local municipal politics in 1991 and I became the local area councilor of McLean Ward in the Township of Lake of Bays.  I held this position for 6 years, until being elected to the District of Muskoka Council in 1997.

Over the past 12 years, I have spent countless hours on committees, including:

- Community Policing
- District of Muskoka Planning Committee
- Library
- Ontario Restructuring in Muskoka
- Parks and Recreation
- Muskoka District Airport Committee
- Fire Department
- Community Services
- Tourism Task Force
- Engineering and Public Works
- The Pines Long Term Care
- District Tax Reform

I am a strong community supporter, and have been President of the Baysville Business Association, President of Baysville Women's Auxiliary, Community Policing Committee, Dwight Beach Project, Associate Director Baysville Horticultural Society, as well as being actively involved in the Riverfront Project and the Algonquin Development Group.
